Check both before heading out
Pollen and air pollution answer different questions. A pollen forecast shows the concentration of individual pollen types. An air-quality index summarises selected pollutants. A low air-quality index does not mean pollen is low too.
Open your city forecast to compare pollen, air quality and weather for the same date. If you follow a particular pollen type, check its row as well as the air-quality outlook.
Reading European AQI
Our city forecasts use the European AQI scale. Lower values mean less air pollution: good up to 20, fair above 20 to 40, moderate above 40 to 60, poor above 60 to 80, very poor above 80 to 100, and extremely poor above 100.
Each day’s value is the highest available hourly index. A partial forecast shows its available hours and may not include the day’s peak. PM₂.₅ is also shown separately in µg/m³.
Compare the same date and scale
Use the four-day outlook to compare the coming days in your city. Keep the index name with the number: different air-quality scales use different thresholds. The European AQI is separate from the UK Daily Air Quality Index (DAQI).
